Life Happens….Links Life Golf 2.0

Way back in 2008 one of my sons had added website building to his deep and varied resume of skills. At the time I was recuperating from shoulder surgery as too many bad swings had taken its toll on me. He thought I would like writing a golf blog as most of my free time was spent in pursuit of any and all things golf.

I was on the disabled list and my schedule for the next several months was nothing but rest and rehab. Intrigued by the possibility of having an outlet for my golf frustration I dove in and with his help Links Life Golf was born.

In the early days of Links Life Golf I would spend hours reading books or researching stories on the web. I would then take more hours to hack it out with my two finger keyboarding skills to try and post something worthwhile. Some days I would work well into the night and early morning and post two, three or four articles a day. I was passionate about golf, the game and the people and my son was right. It was a healthy outlet for my obsession.

“It keeps me off the streets” I would tell those that saw all the work I was putting into this blog. And it did.

It also gave me a different perspective on the professional game as well as a wonderful education on the history of golf.

Over these past years my thinking on the game has been constantly evolving. My trips to Scotland to play true links golf had an effect on me and certainly contributed to my change in attitude. And I’ve aged a wee bit for sure and many different experiences has shaped not only my perspective on golf but on life.

Like John Lennon wrote, “Life is what happens to you, while you’re busy making other plans.”

Life has interrupted Links Life Golf a few times these past years and I haven’t posted anything for quite awhile. But life has brought me back here once again.

This wasn’t the plan but rather life and here I am once again on the disabled list with an injury to the other shoulder. Boy, it’s tough getting old.

So as I was thinking back in ’08 maybe it’s time to loosen up those two fingers and get back on that keyboard and start to get Links Life Golf back on track.

I won’t be focusing on the results of the pro tours as much as that is easily found in so many other outlets but rather on the things that truly interest me…and hopefully other golf aficionados too.

That’s the plan…but like Lennon says…life happens. Links Life Golf 2.0 we’ll call it. Let’s see how it goes.
