The Old Course at St. Andrews will welcome the world’s best golfers next week and no course holds such a revered place in golf history. From Old Tom Morris to Rory McIlroy and all in between the Old Course is the ultimate venue.
Bobby Jones gave St. Andrews and the Old Course the definitive compliment when he was welcomed back to the city in 1958 to receive the Freedom of the City. Benjamin Franklin was the only other American who had been given that honor.
Jones was so touched he made one of the most moving speeches by any golfer anywhere.
