It’s PGA Championship Week and the top golfers in the world will be doing their best to capture the season’s last major at venerable Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York.
For years the PGA Championship used the tag line, “Glory’s Last Shot” and it was a fitting title for the final major of the year.
But rumor has it that Tim Finchem and crew twisted a few arms to get the PGA of America to drop the line so the FedEx Cup Playoffs wouldn’t be an afterthought.
As I have said often, the playoffs have grown to become an exciting end to the season but they are not majors. Sorry Tim.
