2013 Walker Cup Returns to National Golf Links of America

by Jeff Skinner

This week brings us to one of the most special places in golf as The 2013 Walker Cup is played at The National Golf Links of America.  National Golf Links is one of America’s iconic courses.

C.B. Macdonald, the father of golf architecture in America, designed National on that classic piece of real estate, Southampton, Long Island.

Macdonald used some of the greatest golf holes in Scotland as inspiration for his most significant design.  He changed golf in America with this course.

National Golf Links of America hosted the first Walker Cup in 1922 with Bobby Jones, Francis Ouimet and Chick Evans playing for the winning American team.

This week teams from Great Britain & Ireland and the United States will write another historic chapter on Macdonald’s hallowed links.
