Jordan Spieth made a big splash on the PGA Tour in his rookie season. He won at the John Deere, had three second places and worked his way onto the Presidents Cup Team. 2014 hasn’t been much different. There is no sophomore slump here.
While he hasn’t won yet he still has had a solid season most notably with his second place finish at The Masters.
Right now he sits at ten in the Official World Golf Rankings and fifth in the FedEx Cup Points List. In his two PGA Tour seasons he has amassed over seven million dollars and a slew of fans both inside and outside the ropes.
But you can’t talk about Spieth without mentioning his almost unexplainable maturity. Every commentator always mentions how this twenty year old acts like anything but a twenty year old. And they are right.
This kid has behaved like a gentleman from the first days we saw him as a sixteen year old at The Byron Nelson.
He’s been thoughtful, polite and honest each time he is in front of a microphone and I said early on that whatever his parents were feeding him should be bottled and sold to an entire generation of kids from this “look at me” generation.
But it wasn’t only Jordan’s parents that contributed to his mature beyond his years persona. His sister had much to do with it also.
Spieth’s younger sister, Ellie is a special need child and growing up in a household with her he was exposed to many thing that your typical twenty year old isn’t.
He spoke about Ellie at his press conference today.
Yeah, my little sister was born I think eight weeks early, so she’s — she has special needs. But she’s the best thing that’s happened to our family.
She’s hilarious. She is going to be here. My family is coming in, it’s going to be really exciting to have her here.
She’s come to a few golf tournaments and she really enjoys it. They kind of stay away from everything and rightfully so. Just would rather not be in the middle of everything. They can watch from a far.
But, yeah, it’s going to be really, really cool having her
Spieth calls Ellie his hero and it is obvious that the Spieth family did plenty of things right.
