The stage is set for the U.S. Open at the revamped Pinehurst No.2 but there is something missing. Past Pinehurst Champion, Michael Campbell is no where to be seen.
Campbell who came out of nowhere to win here in 2005, over Tiger Woods has opted not to come back to the scene of his biggest and most unlikely victory. Campbell was the last player to qualify and then go on to win the U.S. Open.
His championship game left him quickly after his astounding win at Pinehurst. Campbell’s last victory came later that fall in ’05 and he hasn’t made the cut in a major since 2008.

But, don’t think Campbell is down on his luck. He is living a vibrant and rewarding life at his new home in 
Marbella, Spain.

Life is good for Michael Campbell even if it isn’t what many of us expected it would be.
