Tiger’s Soap Opera Continues

by Jeff Skinner

As the World Turns, Tiger Woods style. Tiger’s horrible 2014 season went from really bad to really, really bad yesterday at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational.

Woods aggravated his newly, surgically repaired back playing from an awkward lie on the second hole. He tried to continue on but as his back went into spasms he withdrew after his tee ball on the ninth hole. Tiger leg wgc

“It happened on the second hole when I hit my second shot, I fell back into the bunker,” Woods said. “I just jarred it, and it’s been spasming ever since.”

It’s the latest episode in a lost season for the fourteen time major winner.

Before he had his back surgery he went T80, MC and T25. Post surgery he has gone MC, T69 and now another withdrawal.

With the PGA Championship starting Thursday it is not clear if Woods will tee it up but even if he does can we really expect anything different?

Woods came back from his surgery much sooner than anyone had anticipated and with this episode it’s easy to think he returned to play too soon.

Right now there are more questions than answers concerning Woods’ health, swing and career. But for my money the second he sat in that golf cart to be wheeled off the course Tom Watson’s job just got a bit easier.

There’s no way Captain Watson can select Woods for the Ryder Cup Team now. Watson will have to look elsewhere for help in regaining the cup. Tiger has nothing to offer the team right now.

As the World Turns continues.
