Jack Nicklaus Turns 75

jack nicklausToday Jack Nicklaus celebrates his 75th birthday and we all should join him in celebrating his incomparable career.

There isn’t anything that The Golden Bear hasn’t done on the course and his total of 18 major championships is the number in golf. That 18 major total is the Holy Grail of accomplishments.

But Nicklaus was more than just The Greatest of All Time.

When he wasn’t dominating on the course he was leading an off course life that few can imagine.

He does everything from designing courses to building hospitals and all the while taking lead roles in charitable and golf related causes.

Jack knew how to prioritize his life early on: family first,  golf second. He showed the modern day professional how to be a dad and a golfer at the same time.

Jack will forever be remembered for what he did on the golf course but for me it is how he did it on the course and off it for that matter.  nicklaus_grandkids_2005

There may be greater champions that come down the line but there will never be a greater sportsman. He was a gracious winner but an even more gracious loser.

Jack lived his life guided by simple values that put family, honesty and compassion first. There are few men that can compare to Jack and the way he lived his life.

Happy Birthday Jack!
