Sergio Garcia Rips USGA for Greens at Chambers BAy

There was some debate among us here at Links Life Golf when it came to deciding who could or couldn’t be named a dark horse pick for our U.S. Open Picks contest.

We determined that defending champ Martin Kaymer could not be one (sorry Greek) but Sergio Garcia, who is number eight in the world could. Of course it is Sergio’s problem winning a major that qualifies him for such a designation in spite of his prominent world ranking.

Now, thanks to Sergio himself we have undeniable proof that yes, in any major Sergio is a dark horse.

The Spaniard himself took to Twitter to lambaste the USGA for the condition of the greens at Chambers Bay.

Sergio, Sergio, Sergio, what are we going to do with you.  You shot 70 and were in contention when you left the course today. With this I don’t think you have to worry about the greens. It’s that five inches of dead space between your ears that will cost you this major.

  1. Sergio has every right to speak his mind and I find it refreshing when any professional golfer..check that- any *professional athlete* speaks his or her mind.
