Mark Rolfing Back On the Job at Kapalua

The boys of the PGA Tour open up 2016 today at the Tournament of Champions on the beautiful island of Maui.

Few courses in the world will off the views from Kapalua’s Plantation Course and with a stacked field of the tour’s top golfers it’s sure to be a treat.

Another view that everyone in the golf world will be happy to see is that of Mark Rolfing roaming the course once again.rolfing

Rolfing is making his first appearance since having surgery to battle stage four cancer of his salivary gland. We last saw Rolfing the week of the PGA Championship and he had a long, seven and a half hour operation that week to remove a tumor that he thought was the result of a sinus infection.

The good news is that after intense proton radiation therapy Rolfing has bounced back enough to return to his job as on course reporter on NBC/Golf Channel. He’s due back for a check up soon but is thrilled to be back at work and it couldn’t happen at a better place.

Rolfing is Hawaii’s golf ambassador and no one knows the island courses better than he. And he won’t have far to travel to get to work, he lives right on the fifth hole of the Plantation Course.

He says he is overwhelmed by the support he has received from the entire golf world.

As if golf from Hawaii isn’t special enough we’ll get to see one of the real good guys back on the job.
