U.S. Open Preview: Oakmont Holes 11 & 12

Our U.S. Open Preview continues with a look at holes eleven and twelve.

The eleventh may be one of the better birdie chances on the course.  A short par 4 at 379 yards if a player can hit the blind, elevated fairway they are left with a short iron into the green.  It played as the thirteenth most difficult hole in 2007.

Things get a bit serious on the twelfth hole.  A long par 5 that zig-zags out to 667 yards will challenge even the longest hitters to find the green in two.  Strategically placed bunkers, ditches and a sloping fairway make shot placement the key to this hole. Things don’t any easier on the green as it slopes away from the players.  It ranked as the seventh most difficult hole in ’07.
