DeChambeau Does Dubai

They say it doesn’t matter how you get the ball in the hole as long as you get it there.  But that doesn’t hold for Bryson DeChambeau.  To him it truly matters how that ball finds the bottom of the cup.

And the maddest of the “mad-scientists” in golf worked his formulas, calculations, geometries and physics  calculations to win again at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.  DeChambeau lapped the field with a final round 64 to finish seven shots clear of Matt Wallace and set a new tournament record of 24 under par.bryson dubai

Say what you will about his methods of playing the game, and many of us do, but they are working for him.  This is his first European Tour win and add that to his five PGA Tour wins since The ’17 John Deere Classic and you have one of the hottest golfers on the planet.

His unorthodox method of putting and his single length clubs certainly set him apart from the everyday PGA Tour player but many players have their own idiosyncratic techniques. But it is DeChambeau’s analytical approach to his game that truly differentiates him.  His conversations with his caddie are more Big Bang Theory than Big Break and sometimes need a PhD to dumb it down to us mere mortals whose vocabulary tops out at swing speed.

There are plenty of critics of his methods and his tendency to slow up play but we can’t argue with the results.  And if we did I am sure he’d have an argument, based with a million facts and stats to prove his points.

Point proven: he is one hot golfer.
