Rory McIlroy worked his way around Riviera Country Club today in a very efficient four under par 67 to earn a tie for second just two strokes back of leader Matt Kuchar.
Rory was striking it well and continued his on the mark shooting afterwards when he addressed the media. He was relatively happy with his play and loves this classic golf course. And Rory being Rory dropped the line of the tournament so far.
“It’s a golf course where there’s no hazards to really hit it in. You can’t really lose a ball…unless you’re Phil.” Ouch!
Phil may like hitting his “bombs” but it proved unsuccessful this time out as he pumped one out of bounds in round one and is off for the weekend.
Phil will be Phil and thankfully Rory will be Rory…telling it like it is.
