PGA Tour At Riviera Country Club… An Oldie But Goodie

by Jeff Skinner

Riviera Country Club welcomes the PGA Tour this week and Hogan’s Alley is one of the most revered classic courses the tour sees all season  Riviera isn’t one of those newfangled courses with railroad ties and waterfalls.  Even stretched to over 7200 yards it remains old school and that’s why they love it.

No one knows it better than Geoff Shackelford, after all he wrote the book on Riviera, literally.  Shackelford penned The Riviera Country Club: A Definitive History.  He also wrote a book on the original designer of Riviera, The Captain: George C. Thomas and His Golf Architecture.

Listen as he schools Damon Hack on the intricacies of holes four, six and ten. And click here for a quick flyover of Riviera.
