Our Winner Is ……..

With The Masters in the books and Patrick Reed basking in the spotlight while Rory McIroy licks his wounds all that’s left is to tally up the cash. And lots of cash it was with a massive payout to the Masters Champion and those runners up.

Reed cashed a huge check of nearly two million dollars while second place at the Masters doesn’t suck for Rickie Fowler as he earned more than a million.

But for the Crew at Links Life Golf it’s time for the boasting and bragging to start as we claim our Masters King. Not one of the Crew picked Reed as the winner but a few well thought out picks and some Sunday surges enabled Gordo to climb to the top of our leaderboard.

Congrats to Gordo for having the foresight to select three players that all finished well in the money with Spieth being his big money maker.

Here is the 2018 Final Links Life Crew Masters standings

  1. Gordo $1,468,509 : Spieth carried most of us but a great run by Paul Casey and John Rahm’s steady play put Gordo on top.
  2. George R. : $1,365,375 : Spieth and McIlroy were his money makers and Justin Rose helped out too.
  3. Big Skins $1,253,313 : Phil Mickelson screwed me big time, Rory choked…only Spieth came through.
  4. The Greek $1,067,413 : Tiger was too rusty to make a difference, Bubba helped out and Rory disappointed. Greek’s Dark Horse, Louis Oothuizen was the biggest DH earner.
  5. Big Dick $964,563 : BD was a victim of TW’s poor play and Rory’s choking.
  6. The Sheriff $900,076 : Stenson and Rory were his money makers and he was another victim of Tiger’s failure.
  7. Lil’ Skins : Betting with his heart cost him as Sergio missed the cut, Tiger sucked and Rory choked.

Notes: This puts Gordo in good position for the overall LLG Crew Major Championship Crown which will total the winnings from all four major at season’s end. None of our “Miss Cut” picks actually did miss the cut, they all finished in the money but the Bone Head Award has to go to Andy the Sheriff…he picked Patrick Reed to miss the cut, such disrespect for the Masters Champ!

We can’t wait for the U.S. Open at Shinnecock.
