Our Crew Picks the U.S. Open Winner

Nothing in golf gives us the buzz like the majors and finally today we put all the chatter behind us as the U.S. Open tees off at Shinnecock. And with a major championship comes the expert prognostications of the Links Life Golf Crew.shinnecock pic logo

Lots of chalk here and plenty of “betting with the heart” and not the head. Gordo won The Masters and is in the lead for the Major Season Championship.

Hopefully we’ll have a great Open with a deserving winner come Sunday. Here we go…

George R. : George likes Dustin Johnson (who doesn’t), Jason Day and is hot for Jon Rahm. Tiger Woods is his Dark Horse and at 80 in the world he would be. Jordan Spieth is bound to miss the cut.

The Greek : Greek thinks Rickie Fowler breaks through for his first major and Spieth and Brooks Koepka to get anther Open. Tony Finau with two good ankles is his Dark Horse and Pat Perez (32 OWGR) will have the weekend to sail on Peconic Bay.

Big Dick : Dick loves Tiger to complete his comeback, Rory McIlroy to get back on the major train and Sergio Garcia to shake off his Masters meltdown. Kyle Stanley would certainly be a Dark Horse winner and he thinks #46 Siwoo Kim won’t be around for the weekend.

Lil Skins : Lil Skins wants Phil Mickelson to go home happy with his career grand slam. Wouldn’t that be nice! Rory and Justin Rose are his other picks and he wants the whining Spieth to miss the cut. A true Dark Horse pick in #76 Shubhankar Sharma is a very bold pick.

Gordo : Gordo also likes Phil to get his slam and Rory to get another. He thinks Hideki Matsuyama will get his first major and Bubba Watson will be packing it in early. Adam Scott, who tied the course record earlier this year is his Dark Horse.

Big Skins : I am going straight chalk: DJ, Justin Thomas and Rosey…numbers one, two and three in the world. I reluctantly passed on Rory who I think is so close to his old self. I think Koepka will be home early, but he probably won’t and I side with Gordo and Adam Scott as my Dark Horse. He is playing with the local caddie that got him around Shinnecock for a record score. That would be a great story.
